Awesome news Sean! I will definitely be on the lookout for your posts about your adventure. I second the words on Ricks work. Absolute perfection!

Drained all the last of the fuel out this afternoon...................

Got one last snap of the girl with her shorty wings on.

Gotta finish up mounting the slings in the trailer for the wings and should be ready to go and head to Hays next Monday!!!

Trailer is ready to rock.............I installed 4 carpet slings onto the walls - about 9 feet on center. Was originally going to build a 2x4 box frame so I didn't have to figure out precisely drilling holes into the steel studs in the trailer walls.........that was going to get kind of spendy for a 1-off trailer use....So I peeled back the roof trim and discovered a steel beam that went across both sides along the top of the walls......I decided to just use metal brackets and drill into the beams and screw the brackets through the carpet and loop it that way..............ironically, when I got done, I realized I was wearing my S-6 Coyote shirt.....along with a BUNCH of sweat!!!!

If you're wodering what they look like once the wings are in Here's what they looked like when I first bought the plane and shipped it from West Virginia back to Michigan

Dang......it's been a LONG TIME since I posted on this thread.......

I'll have to post the photos from the MARATHON trip from Michigan to Iowa (to look at a plane Rick Hayes wanted to buy) from Iowa to Hays, KS and the "Swapping of the Wings" event......to the trip BACK to Iowa.....the unloading of the Rans Wings and the LOADING of a whole 'nuther airplane and subsequent RELOADING of the sport wings.....and then back to Michigan.......

And the next week.....I started back in my final semester of Nursing School. So the factory-built wings are in Rick's shop in central-lower michigan and the parts for the ailerons and flaps (not yet constructed) are in my hangar......sitting there........cold.....alone.......and probably getting a little dusty.....waiting.....HOPING that one day I will actually open the doors again and start building them......then covering them....and then FLYING THEM.......

But it's colder than a witches.....well.....it's colder than a witches beer cooler........but I do have one little bit of news...........

    I GRADUATED LAST WEDNESDAY!!!!!

Yup, my old fat butt managed to graduate #1 in my class on 12/13/2017.....I got myself a designated driver and had him drive me and a few of my classmates around town as we drank adult beverages to excess.........I'm hoping to get an early date to take my board exams at the end of the year or right after the first of the year. So it hasn't even been a week since I got done and I'm already BACK spending a majority of my time thinking about flying and my Rans..........and MY NEXT RANS.

Yup....as my classmates dream of buying new cars with that "big full-time-nursing-money".......my goals are much simpler......buy a wood-fired pizza oven for my front yard and then buy, build and fly an S-21. Lots of reasons WHY I've made that choice, that I'll go over more as the time draws nearer. Hell.....the S-21 just flew for the first time 2 days after I graduated......so we've both got some time for personal and professional development.

I've had several PM's lately checking up on my progress in school and for those of you that have cared enough to check, I thank you....I hope to be posting more on the Clan in the months to come and bring you more of.....well........MEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Congrats Sean! That's a huge accomplishment and we are all proud of you. Oh and let me know when that pizza oven is fired up since you're only a 1.5 hour flight away for me!!
