Building a Wing
Jig (From Wood)

Not all of us are welders. In fact, not all of us should be in control of a dangerous open flame! But I'm pretty sure any of us can hack our way through a piece of wood. It's for this exact reason that I decided to build my rotary wing jig out of 2 x 4's. Total cost of materials was $27. Actually, it will cost about $31.00 ( I only bought 4 angle brackets and didn't realize I needed eight. Back to Lowe's for me...)
| Here's a pic of the whole jig. | I cut out a round disk and randomly drilled holes
around the edge. The bolt on the bottom can relocate to any hole and it
will hold the wing in each position. Just drill through the upright 2 x
4 and into the disk and every hole will line up for the bolt. |
| I bought one 2 x 2 piece of 1/2" board
and made the gussets for each side. Here's a drawing of how to cut it. |
Each upright has a 2 x 2 attached to it. This 2 x 2 inserts into the front and rear spar. |
| Actually, it's these end pieces that insert into the spar. |
