| I set up a clean area in the dungeon of my house to
cover the tail pieces. |
 |
Here's the work table I built. I
covered it with clean white paper. |
 |
Before I can start covering and
spreading U-500 glue, all sharp edges must be covered with anti-chafe
tape. |
 |
Here's the elevator tip protected with
the tape. |
 |
I also drilled this fiberglass piece
today and drew a line where it will need trimmed. I didn't trim it today
because I want to do it outside so all the dust doesn't get in the
garage but it is raining. |
 |
I actually sanded this off yesterday.
This is the front of the vertical tail where the two pieces join. |
 |
See this diagonal tube? It is attached
by slipping it over a 'button' which is simply a rivet with a washer
under it. The problem is that it is always falling off. I even made a
new longer one and really pressed it in there but it can still come off.
So... |
 |
...my solution is to rivet it on with
these clips. This picture is looking up from the bottom. With it riveted
in place, I don't have to worry about it falling off once the fuselage
is covered. I used a clip on both ends. |
