After I fiberglassed the door, I peeled the tape off of the cowl and cut out the opening.
Since I need a lip for the door to close against, I also fiberglassed this piece to the inside of the cowl. It was also fiberglassed exactly like the door was so it too is shaped to the cowl.

 

The oil door will fit nicely inside the cutout. I am using the hinges off of the S-10 oil door because if used with flush rivets, they are hidden hinges.

I will use two of those butterfly 1/4 turn fasteners in the door just like I have on my baggage door.
Here you can see the unique shape of the door. As you can see, a flat door just would not work correctly.
