Didn't get a lot done today. I was working on installing the last rib on the right horizontal stab but it just doesn't fit correctly. I will have to call Rans tech support tomorrow.

UPDATE:

After talking to Rans tech support today, I filed the rib (as the manual states) and fit the rib up to the tab. The holes do not line up though and I had to drill new holes. Tech support was stumped too! So I took some pics that I will e-mail to Rans.

I also need to call and ask about the ribs. Every single rib (wings included) is bent. The ribs have the fluting along the edge to compensate but since they are all still bent, I'm not sure if the factory is just not fluting them all the way or what? Again, I'll call them tomorrow.

See how the rib is bent? I don't want to see a crooked row of rivets once the fabric is on so I want to straighten these now. I think a pair of fluting pliers is what I need to straighten them out.

UPDATE:

I talked to Ed at Rans today about the bowed ribs. I was correct in that these ribs will need straightened. So today I ordered a nice pair of fluting pliers ($29.99) that I can use to straighten each rib. You really want each rib to lay flat so that once the airplane is covered you will see a nice row of rivets. It should only take a few minutes per rib to straighten them out. Once I get the pliers, I'll post a follow-up.
