First thing I did today was bolt on the tailwheel.
You can see how nice all the pieces look painted black. Since I disassembled everything to paint the pieces, I will have to re-grease the end block before I put the tailwheel back on. I don't have any grease at home so that will have to wait.
Here's another pic of the tailwheel mount.
Most of the work today was on the wings. I can't get my gear legs drilled out until April 12th so I figured I might as well work on the wings while the fuselage is on hold. I have plenty of room in my garage to have the wings and fuselage going at the same time. If I'm waiting for something on one, then I can work on the other. If the wings do get in the way, I can hang them from the ceiling.
This is the main strut attach fitting. Holes had to be drilled and bushing inserted in the wings. Time consuming but not very difficult.
I made a trip to Lowes to buy some 2x4's and fittings to make these saw
horses. The legs are 35" long which gives a working height of about
39".
Here you are looking at two completed main spars. Actually, they are not really completed because I have to pull all the 3/16" rivets. I haven't bought an air compressor yet as I am searching for one that I can also use for painting. I just need to figure out exactly what size I'll need and then I'll go buy one.
I may start working on the rear spars tonight but for now, I better get some other stuff done today!
