| Wow I got a lot of covering done today! | |
The pieces are starting to pile up! The other elevator is not shown here. I'm actually getting this done faster than I thought I would have. |
It's difficult to see in this pic, but shown is a pencil line drawn on the fabric so I can get a nice straight edge. Once the line is drawn, go over it with very thin U-500 glue so it doesn't fray when it is cut. |

I didn't take any pics while covering
the stab, but it is complete here and the fabric is getting attached to
the ribs. The S-6S uses a different system than my S-10 did in that the
fabric is attached with rivets. Before the rivets are installed, a clear
plastic strap (barely visible here) is laid over the rib. This protects
the fabric from the rivet and gives the rivet something to hold on to. After the plastic is put on with double sided tape melt a hole in the holes with a soldering iron. Just follow the manual-it's all explained there! |
After the hole is melted, the little
'ring' that forms with have to be cut away with a razor blade. This
makes me nervous playing with a razor blade over the fabric! Install the rivets. |

Next...lay the 2" tape over the whole deal and you're done. |
