I've been working on the S-6 for the last few days but haven't had time to update the builder's log. A built the flaps and ailerons as you can see here. I still have to install the control horns on the ailerons.
The tank is sitting in the wing and is full of fuel. I will let it sit for a week so the tank can expand and mold into shape.
This is the left contour former on the bottom of the forward fuselage. I didn't like how the first one I made turned out so I ordered a new one and re-formed it.

The best way I have found to bend this piece is to drill the two holes on the top and cleco it in place. Mark on the aluminum the point at which the fuselage tubes start to bend. That is where you start bending the aluminum.

While you have it clecoed in place. Mark the locations where the aluminum will have to be filed away to fit around the tubes.
Then, make this high-tech bending jig. Please don't spend any more than 8 seconds making this jig.
Align the marks you made (where the fuselage tubes bend) on the aluminum with the tube and gently bend. I also used the rear spar (2" diameter) to bend this piece as well as the rear spar of the flap or aileron. Use any round tube to bend this aluminum until you get the desired shape.
Once the bending is done...rivet it on!
